BACK TO BASIC

Hi all,

hope all of you have done well for your EOYs and have had a good break for 2 months and a half since Night Hike!
YES, now it's back to usual training. HOORAY!
hopefully, all of you that came today had really benefitted and be inspired by the old boys (in their 50s). to me, they are really inspirational because i had definitely appreciated my time in 01 more after their sharings. their experiences had given us a lot of vital advices towards lives, but more importantly, we should always remember what they had shared with us regarding lives within and without 01, i believe it will really help us in a long run. so for those who never come, too bad really... (:

um next wed 24/10 will b e photo taking day, so do bring full scout uniforms and p.e shirts and pants. most likely have PT

Joel please do update us on PATROL LOGS. we wouldnt want to procrastinate do we? faster get it done with and then we will we able to slack the whole of dec holiday, so pls cooperate with joel and i.

on the side note, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASON LIM! you will be turning 14 right? have fun in 01 and with ur batchmates!
maybe next weekend we can go out as a patrol, most likely the last 'patrol fun' before gROUP TrAINING camP, which joel and i have been mentioning for quite some times... but i will update u guys when the time is nearer. so yeah do check ur message and email.

Have a good rest and next week, all the best when the results are out!

100th post + night hike

hi owl
good job on completing night hike. i must admit that the hike was quite long (longer than last year) and all of you were quite tired. you guys must seriously improve your physical fitness (especially sec 1s) cause gtc will be much tougher than this. also improve on your navigation skills (especially sec 1s) cause you guys will be navigating on your own during gtc in your gtc patrols. anw good job guys!

Well Done

hey guys,

Well Done!
with only 4 people, JOEL, RANDY, BENEDICT and JASON, They managed to get the 3rd runner up position! that great, comparing to mini olympic. LOL. For these people who had put in their best effort so far in everything, whether it is inter- patrol or not inter-patrol, during week 10 (date to be confirmed later), Joel and I will treat you to something really GREAT, e.g. EARTHQUAKE ice-cream or pizza. most likely before NIGHT HIKE, which is on Friday the 29th august. Hopefully all of u will be able to make it for this annual activity that will leave you with a 'life-changing' experience and unforgettable memory with Owl and your batch mates.

Do remember that there will be no activity for sec 1 and 2 on Monday the 18th as the sec 3s will be going for CCAL interview. On Wed, we will be having IRON MAN. j1s will send an email to tell you guys what it is about, so please do check your email.

Now, on a serious note, Patrol Log is back! Joel will tell all of you what plogs you own him, and what new plog u nd to send to him. for those who fail to send him ur plogs by the deadline given, you will be excluded from the special treat by us in week 10.

Mini Olympic 2

Hi all

Firstly, I want to say thank you for those who had put effort for today's mini - olympic 1! Although we had manpower problem in the track and field, we were still able to overcome 'the pundit' together as a patrol, and moreover, we got first for 2 events! WELL DONE! Joel and I really appreciated ll your effort, namely the 3 unsung heroes other than the two of us: Benedict, for never give up, KY, for his enthusiasm to help and for our only sec 2, Jason, who manned all the sec 2s track n field!

Next up, we will be having patrol meeting on the upcoming next monday the 28th of July! simply, we will be adopting Sailmaker's whipping to retie the fray part of our ropes from now on. this is obviously to maintain the quality of our ropes. on the more important notes, our dear FS will be collecting the first round of DONATION DRAW. If you are still unable to sell all your tickets, please use your money to buy the rest of them. I believe that most of you have put effort into selling everything, like Joel and myself. to be frank, we sold more than what the sec 3s' target is! which is 9 booklets, we sold more than 15 booklets each! i hope than on monday, i will see you asking for more booklets to sell, rather than get a scolding from Jun Jie for not completing your batch's target.

The details of Patrol Meeting are as follows:

Patrol Meeting [28/7]
Duration: 3.30pm to 6pm
Reporting venue: Gym Hall Atrium
Reporting attire: PE attire
Things to bring: Scissors, donation draw tickets, donation draw money

The following is the allocation of timings for the collection:

3.30pm to 4.00pm: Ventures

4.00pm to 4.20pm: Sec 1s

4.20pm to 4.40pm: Sec 2s

4.40pm to 5.00pm: Sec 3s

it is an official activity, and i do not expect the attendance to be like today's mini olympic again

On wednesday, there will be the much anticipated Mini Olympics II! After today's tiring and intensely competitive session of track events, as well as the fun games played, we will be continuing with 3 more games on wednesday, namely soccer, frisbee and captain's ball. The details for the activity are as follows:

Mini Olympics II [30/7]
Duration: 3.30pm to 6.30pm
Reporting venue: Raffles Square (there will be Muster Parade on Wednesday)
Reporting attire: Full Scout Uniform
Things to bring: PE attire and a great deal of enthusiasm =)

Have a good rest, and well done to OWL's very own 3 unsung heroes!

Activities next week!

Hi guys,

Finally official acts since term 2! R all of you excited? nostalgia huh... lol
Anyway, this coming Monday will be test TAKING!

Test Taking [21/7]
Duration: 3.30pm to 6.00pm
Reporting venue: Gym Hall Atrium
Reporting attire: PE attire
Things to bring: Stationary, writing paper, notes

"...Ample time has been given for preparation for these tests; please do not give lack of time as an excuse for not studying. Remember that this is the final round of tests this year; if you do not pass this round, you will have failed to attain your Scout Standard/Advanced Scout Standard/First Class Scout Badge this year." halliim said a few days ago in his email.

SEC1
for knotz and lashingz, only Roy had passed, for the three of you please go and revise and practise!
as for first aid, only Roy and Benedict had passed!
as for Map and Compass, ALL OF YOU ARE STILL BRONZE!
this will be the last test taking for the year, so please do your best for it!

"The J1s really hope that you will do better for this round of tests. Your performance during Standards Tests 1 was dismal; as of now, only 1 of you has attained the Scout Standard, which is the lowest Standard. You might think that these tests are unimportant, but bear in mind that how well you fare in these tests will directly affect your CCA points. There is no point in thinking “Oh, maybe I’ll slack off now, and pass all my tests in Sec 3.” It is extremely hard to pass more than 1 standard within a year, especially because your workload in school increases drastically in Sec 2 and 3. In fact, your Sec 1 year is the best year to pass as many tests and attain the highest standard you can, while your school life remains relatively easy. Make full use of this holiday week."

SEC2

all of you had done rather well, or i must say even better than most of the sec 3s in test taking! if possible, you can complete gold within this year! that will be very imba of you! nothing else to say, i believe you all will study for the test taking!

"It is heartening to see that most of you have progressed to the Silver and Gold Standard at last, as it should be for Sec 2s. However, there are still a few of you who are lagging behind at Bronze Standard. In fact, several of you have yet to even attain Scout Standard, which is really quite disappointing. Remember that as Sec 2s, you are expected to attain ASS by the end of this year. Please do put in greater effort for these tests; as you should know, your test results directly affect your CCA points. Bear in mind also that we J1s will be looking for PLs and APLs who know their Scout Skills well, so that they may teach their patrol well. Attaining your Advanced Scout Standard Badge this year (Silver Standard) will also give you a headstart in attaining your First Class Scout Badge next year, which is needed if you wish to pursue the Chief Commissioner’s Award."

ALL THE BEST FOR THE LAST TEST TAKING OF THE YEAR

after the stressful test taking, there will be no activity on this wednesday.
instead, there will be MINI OLYMPIC this upcoming Saturday! this is one of the very much anticipated event in 01.

This will be a day of fun and friendly competition among patrols where you pit your physical and sporting skills against one another. Come down full of enthusiasm and play your heart out in this morning of fun and games, as this will count towards the Inter-Patrol standings!

Mini Olympics (Part 1) [26/7]
Duration: 8am to 1pm
Reporting venue: Gym Hall Atrium
Reporting attire: PE attire
Things to bring: Change of clothes, water bottles, badminton and tennis rackets (optional)

SEE ALL OF YOU NEXT WEEK, only 2 days left, do have a good rest!

$$$$$ overdue

hey Owl,

it has been almost a month now after the unforgettable Annual Camp. to refresh all of you, it is a requirement for every patrol to get banners and paints for their own gateway and teckoes for their own practical gadgets. For Owl, we had spend $46.60 for the four gigantic banners, $38.50 for the revolting saga paints and $20++ for 25 poles of teckoes. Total is $105! therefore we have to divide this insane amount of money by 10(the total number of people in Owl). So each and every one of you need to bring $10.50 on Monday 30th of June and pay me back the money that i have involuntarily paid for all of you before the camp!

For another Owl's financial issue, all the secondary 1 must bring extra $2.50 to pay JunJie for the name tag, finally.

Now, for another serious matter, Patrol Logs. For those who have not done your patrol log (you know who you are and WE know who you are), this is the last reminder that you will need to complete them by this sunday 12pm and send the soft copy to joel. we have been generous to all of you for extending the the deadline one week later that what it suppose to be, and i hope that you do not take this kindness from us for granted. for those who are still going to continue this unacceptable behavior, we will not just stand by like last time and let you do it. THIS TYPE OF PROCRASTINATION WILL NOT BE TORELATED!

next monday, we will be having another patrol Fun! yeah! for those who do not send your patrol log to joel, then u will have to complete it during that activity, and for those who have done your part, then you will be playing soccer/basketball with the rest of us.

it is a long weekend for us, pls use ur time wisely, do not procrastinate, as what Ben Hong had written in his MSN, 'procrastination is the root of all evil'. LOL

Patrol Fun in term 3

Hi guys,

Hope all of you had a good rest during the long break. It has been 2 weeks after Annual Camp, and it seems that we need more Patrol Bonding, as Roy and Benedict were not with us during AC to share the fun, so the first two week of term 3 will be PATROL FUN! Hooray!!!!!

These times, I will let all of you decide what you want to do during Patrol Fun. Remember, the activity that you suggest must include every patrol members, and not left any of them out. Like going LAN is definitely impossible, as many in Owl do not know how to play DotA or CS. If you want to have your say, do feel free to email to me at tastebud619@hotmail.com before the last day of this term. In addition, it will be based on first come first serve basis, which mean you have to act fast! However, I will see whether your suggestion benefit the whole patrol or not first.

I have already plan some, and wondering whether all of you will like to participate in them. they are:

soccer
basketball
captain ball
physical training?
mugging of scout skills (quite relevant, after we see all of you during AC)

Give some opinions, or else we will be doing these as a patrol! silence means OK!

Do remember to do your patrol logs, as term 3 will be very hectic, trust me. BY 21st June, i will haunt you down for these! AND DO NOT FORGET TO STUDY FOR YOUR RESPECTIVE STANDARDS, IT WILL BE THE LAST TIME THE J1S WILL CONDUCT THIS YEAR. I BELIEVE YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE LEFT BEHIND BY YOUR BATCHMATES!

One week left before the start of term 3, so please make use of your time and spend more time with your family. Have a good rest!

The consistency is there, the spirit is there and last but not least the will to win is in all of you! I would like to say that Joel and I are glad that all of you have at least put in effort to do your best, despite during the orienteering itself many of you complaint, espectially the sec1s.

Joel and I have been observing all of you for a very long time. And we see that all of you have to improve in these areas:
Stamina
Fitness
OWL Spirit
knots skill

Most of you are doing fine, however, there are still some of you who cant be bothered! Trust me, by improving on these resoective areas, it will definitely benefit you in the long run and it will be a big leap nearer for Owl to win in the short run.
Just Do Your best! You will never regret!

ANNUAL PREPARATION and briefing

Hey dudes,

hope that all of you have a good rest after the challenging Orienteering yesterday. Isn't it an eye-opening experience for you, espectially the sec 1s? hope that all of you will be mentally and physically prepared for the next up coming major inter-patrol event, ANNUAL CAMP!

What is Annual Camp?
1) the "slackest" camp for the year
2) INTER-PATROL
3) no push up, unless you misbehave
4) 5 full days of 'guai lan' but fun activities
5) sleep in tent like overnight camp
6) building of imba structures (require gd knotz skill)
7) total of 5 meals to cook during the camp
8) an only event in 01 camp that require a great deal of talents to win
9) a camp that will definitely enable PL and APL to see your true-colour
10) physically (in a way due to sports and physical challenge between each patrol or batch) and mentally (skill showing) tiring

As mentioned yesterday, tomorrow will be a prep session for the upcoming Annual Camp. PLs are all instructed to plan our own activity on Monday.

AC Prep [12/5]monday
Duration: 3.30pm to 5.30pm
Reporting attire: PE attire
Reporting venue: Gym Hall Atrium
Things to bring: writing materials and brain full of creativities

For Wednesday, the j1s will be briefing you on the details of Annual Camp, following which we will have around 2 hours to continue our preparation in patrols. The details are as follows:
AC Briefing [14/5]wednesday
Duration: 3.30pm to 6.30pm
Reporting attire: PE attire
Reporting venue: Gym Hall Atrium
Things to bring: Writing materials, map&compass, first aids and knotz notes

We will need to plan:
1) Gateway
2) Kitchen Table +chair
3) Dustbin
4) Dresser
5) Clothes line
6) Shoe rack
7) Stove rack
8) 1 other gadget that we have to think of
9) banners+paint
*all the gadgets will have to be make from tecko!

As there is not much time left, be ready to come down after school to finish our preparation for for all this. we will have to finish everything listed above other than gateway and kitchen table+chair before the camp

Good luck, and may the best patrol win!

Orienteering (10/5)

Hi owl,

It have been an exhausting and definitely a busy week for all of us this week, due to various graded assignments and the unforgetable failing-spree for some of your standard tests. However, don't be cynical, the last but definitely not least activity for this week, ORIENTEERING!
It is inter-patrol, and I must highlight to all OwLs out there once again that this activity means a lot to us as it will bring us up in the inter-patrol standing (even though we are doing fine currently).

This competition is on the 10th of MAY, Saturday.
It will be held in the hougang/sengkang area. The details are as follows:
Duration: 8am to 1pm
Meeting Venue: Hougang MRT
Attire: PE Kit
Dismissal Venue: Sengkang MRT
Things to Bring: Small Haversack, water bottle, poncho, signed consent forms

I will be bringing the camera (to take picture of the checkpoint and the patrol first aid kit(to save your life like when you are foaming due to the long distance of hiking, Roy pls take note). It will be tiring few hours out in the open so please get sufficient rest the night before. We are aware that some of you guys have ushering duties for PTM, but please try to find a replacement. As for any of you that are unable to make it for orienteering for whatever reason, please email Yue Zheng at yz.neo@hotmail.com with your reason stated by today.

PLS REVISE YOUR MAP & COMPASS SKILL, any kind of knowledge will be able to help us. Boon King, we are expecting a lot from you!

Only Bryan will not be coming for Orienteering as he had told me before hand due to Maths Competition Training, so pls support and send him a message of encouragement if you can!
Remember what Ms Alicia Goh had stated on Wednesday? "We will not let anyone who will break our bond and camerade inside 01". If you had ever even think about it, please think twice before you are going commit a stupid action.

For the HOOD~~~~~OwL'[08] Hood~~~~~
Let own this Saturday

Standard Tests

Hi gang,

It seems that a lot of you did not put in efforts to study for your respective standard tests this week. Some of your reasons are "forget" and "have to mug for CCT". All these silly reasons are not acceptable for any scout activities. It is your resonsibility to study your CCTs before hand. You are all old enough to be able to balance your schedules properly.

The j1s are not please with how well most of you are performing, espectially the sec 1s. If you do not know how to study, please inform me before hand to arrange a revision session for you, just like before Overnight. It is very disappointing to see that most of you still have the 'can't be bother attitude'. I want all of you to have that enthusiasm and the OWL SPIRIT within you all the time, espectially when the next major inter-patrol activities are coming up, Orienteering this Saturday and ANNUAL CAMP end of this month!

However, in the mean time, please focus on tomorrow tests, practical tests for map and compass and first aid. Since CCT for most of you are over, there is no excuse that you will 'have no time to study'. that's owl's sh*t.

There are still many more areas for improvement...

Test-Taking on week 8

Hi gang,

as mentioned by the STL after cooking race, there will be test-taking for respective standard badges for both next week activities.Note that the days are next Monday and Wednesday, and not the next two Mondays as mentioned in Haliim's previous mail. The details for Monday and Wednesday are as follows:

Duration: 3.30pm to 5.30pm
Reporting venue: Gym hall atrium
Reporting attire: PE attire

Do any of you need extra lesson with me? if u have any trouble, do feel free to ask ur PL or APL for help. if not, then pls study your tests at home yourselves. Refer to the spreadsheet of candidates for each test and the Standards syllabus that Haliim sent previously to prepare for your tests. PLEASE PUT IN EFFORT TO PASS THE TESTS WITH FLYING COLOUR. you do not want to be left behind while your batchmates have passed.

In addition, note that Saturday 10th May will be Orienteering. This will be from 8am to 1pm around the Hougang/Sengkang area. Please make arrangements so that you will be able to attend this activity, and if you already have prior commitments, drop an email to Yue Zheng at yz.neo@hotmail.com

Reflection: cooking Race!

Hey gang,

We are still 4th in cooking. Stagnant and not improving. We really have to do something about this! It seems that OwL' 08 is missing some talent in this aspect. We really need at least 1 good chief in the upcoming major camp: ANNUAL CAMP. We will be eating what we cook for five whole days, so it will be a bless to eat good food! We urge any of you with this hidden talent to show your cooking skill to us! Special mention to Roy because he 'carved' a very cute little owl out of carrot to decorate our meals. Good Job!

Maybe next time, most likely during AC, all of you can learn to cook a good meal from your mom before the cooking competition, this will definitely help our standing in the cooking aspect! Thx all for bringing all the condiments, or maybe only Benedict!

Remember to email to Joel (jfysjoel@msn.com‏) your patrol logs by today midnight. Late submission will be deal with severly... (:
2half hrs more to finish your PLOGS!
gd luck for those who procrastinate!

Misuse of 01yahoogroups and Attendance for Activities

Hey Gang,

It has been a while since I updated the blog. However, there have been something bothering your PL and APL, firstly, it is the misuse of yahoogroups and lastly, it is the attendance for AS Activities.

The last misuse of yahoogroups was done by Raga from Kingfisher. He did not read his email before he actually sent his response to the whole 01yahoogroups, contributing to the spam. Not only it had caused confusion, but also inconvenience. Like Ben Hong had written in his latest email regarding the misuse of yahoogroups, "There is no need for 130 people to witness any conversation and/or arguments between 2 people". I am quite glad that those who had committed an irresponsible mistake last time did not repeat it again, after I posted "Important Reminder" last month.

Keep it Up!

The second issue that I want to raise is rather important. On Monday 14/4, six of you did not turn up for AS prep, and only three told me beforehand. You could just sms me or simply give me a call. This is very IRRESPONSIBLE. Moreover, there were an amount of people who never turn up for activities on Monday, and they did not go for match support. Impressively, there was no one from OwL. I hope that none of you will ever pon scout activities, or even think about doing so. Attendance is compusory for all activities. If you are not feeling well for any activities, then the next time you come, please give me your MC as a prove.

Please complete your assigned PLOGS and send them to Joel by 30th of April.
This is another issue that we constantly remind all of you, we expect all of you to be able to complete by then. No excuse will be taken for late submission!

All the best for your respective comm! Hope that all of you will enjoy 01 Annual Show this coming Saturday and bring your very own campfire/show case to full fruition!

Annual Show Prep so far...

Hello 01

Great job so far on the Annual Show Prep! Thanks for being committed to your work thus far. As we are approaching the final stretch, this final 10 days before our big event, we need to give 100% effort to ensure that the show is a success. 450 scouts and guides have already confirmed their attendance at our show. Those committees which are lagging behind on their progress, be prepared to make sacrifices as the date approaches to complete your work. The final product will be worth the time and effort you spent.

Although Friday 11/4/08 is not an official prep, if there is work to be done, your individual comm i/cs will organise a prep for you. As for next week, Monday (14/4), Wednesday (16/4) and Friday (18/4) are preps and Saturday (19/4) is the actual day. Be prepared to stay a little longer, work a little harder and dance/paint/cut/paste/make a little faster.

A consent form will be sent out for Saturday at a later date.

10 days to Annual Show!

For the secondary 1s, Muster Parade is basically a ceremonial gathering for all Uniformed Groups in Raffles Institution. It focuses heavily on footdrill and is a solemn ceremony, please please do be disciplined at all times during the parade.Although all of you do not know the footdrill decorum, I think everyone will do fine if you were to revise on your footdrill (things like sizing up, etc)

Joel and I will brief you on more detailed stuff tmr before the actual thing itself. so don't worry!

Campfires this week

hey guys,

there are 2 campfires coming up later this week, and I suggest sec 1s and 2s should sign up! Campfires, as you know, are a chance to interact with other Scouts and Guides and get some exposure to the host's Scouting Culture. As such, you are strongly encouraged to attend! Since RI is an all-boys school, it will be very pleasant to the eyes if you go to these campfires and interact with girl-guides from other school, and maybe get their numbers!

The first is ACS(I)'s

Details:
ACScary Movie
Date: Friday, 4th April 2008
Time: 6:45pm
Venue: ACS(I)Address: 121 Dover Road, Singapore 139650
How to get there: Take MRT to Dover. From bus-stop opposite Singapore Polytechnic, take buses 14,74 or 166. Stop opp. the school.
I/C for this campfire is Edmund Ho
HP: 91316312
Email:eddy34567@yahoo.com.sg

ACS(I) campfire is more of a 'production' or show kind, similar to ours. Expect there to be a storyline and exciting games/dances. If you are interested, please give your name to him by Saturday, 29 March

The second one is Whitley Secondary School Scout Group's
Details:
Date: Friday 5th April
Time: 7 - 9 pm
Address: Whitley Secondary School 30 Bishan Street 24, Singapore 579747
I/C for this campfire is Lee Yen Ter
HP: 98431613
Email: yenter.lee@gmail.com

Whitley Campfire is more traditional. There is less AV and technology involved and it's just a gathering of scouts around a campfire in a field. A different experience entirely, some may say it's more cosy and personal. So if you have the chance, try to go for both and see which one fits your cup of tea. Again, if interested, send your name to Yen Ter by 29 March Saturday.

Even though it will be 1 day late if you inform the I/C today, i think you will still be able to sign up for these 2 campfires, hopefully, u will be able to gain from these 2 fun events!

Important Reminder

Hi Kaiyao and Owls,

It seems that you do not understand common rules of 'do & don't" in the 01yahoogroups that had been reminded by the group secretary, Benjamin Hong time and again.I will remind you again even though the last warning by Benjamin was given a month ago. Please take note because we will not tolerate this irresponsible cyber agnorance anymore. Owls, please do not repeat this small yet unacceptable mistake.

1)Always see that the mail you write to 01raffles is something relevant to everyone or at least a majority of those subscribed to the yahoogroup.

2)If you wish to address an email to a specific individuals or groups of individuals, please send to his/their individual email address(es). Avoid sending irrelevant emails through the 'reply/reply all' function - that is a common accidental mistake made by many individuals.

3)Note that message posting is not moderated - that is, there is no system set up for anyone to proofread your emails before they are released for circulation to members of the yahoogroups.Basic ettiquette pertaining to mail usage should be maintained - no profanities and spam. Be mindful of your language and tone, whether towards seniors, peers or juniors. Exercise discretion in sending emails.

4)Archives of past mails can be accessed at the 01raffles yahoogroups webpage. Non-yahoo email account users will have to create a yahoo id should you wish to access yahoogroup functions such as the archives, photos and files. (For information on how to apply for a yahoo id to allow yahoogroups access, please visit http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/groups/groups-51.html )

5)Read and clear your mail boxes periodically to avoid bouncing from the yahoogroups. Bouncing will mean that emails sent via the yahoogroups will not reach your mail boxes, which may lead to you missing out on important and relevant information.

6)Please stick to just one email instead of requesting for subscription of multiple emails to our yahoogroups.

7)If you are replying to a long email, you may wish to delete the text found in the original email before sending your response. This will cut down on the email size. If you still have any doubt, please feel free to ask me directly.

Hopefully I will not need to send this reminder again.

How's Jobweek?

Hi owls,

I was delighted to know that some of you had exceeded your batch's target with countless cash. This will definitely enable OWL to be one of the top patrol in the interpatrol-jobweek competition! All the secondary 1 had done well! Keep up the imbaness in you throughout the whole year! For the secondary 2, Joel and I had no comments, but you guys seriously need to put more effort in doing this major event in 01-calender. You guys could have earn much more. We are not very please at the amount that the 3 of you had earned for these 2 days.

Most importantly, I hope that all of you will be able to learn tremendously while whacking all the industrial and HDB for the whole 2 days! Endurance, perserverance, never-say-die-attitude. all these important values in 01 will come into good use later in the future 01 activities, for example the much dreaded GTC, or the upcoming SUTC. Hopefully all of you will appreciate experiencing the hard earned money and understand its true value now.

All the best in SUTC, and please remember to pack everything necessary and don't miss out anything too. Refers to email send out by me or Post by Boon King for the packlist and details. Rest well on monday! Try to finish all your hol HW too!

Good luck

Guide to how to own Sup
by Steve-O
In March Holiday Special, I will introduce to you one of my fav hero, Vol'jin da witch doctor!
can you here me maan?
Voljin
Vol'Jin can be one deadly doctor that can be a teamplayer and a solo player.. We will be discussing things that'll make Vol'Jin your favorite vet too.. I mean doctor.. Every hero has Ads and DisAds.. So i'll tell you what you should boost on Vol'Jin and what you should try to avoid. Teamplay is also one of the most important things that you should always remember when playing Vol'Jin.
1
Skills
  1. Paralyzing Casks (C) : Vol'jin launches casks of paralyzing powder that bounce between foes, stunning those effected for a short period of time (1 sec on Hero, 5 on creeps). Lvl 4 up to 8 bounces! Comment: This is the first skill that Vol'Jin is quite famous for, Its good in a way that you can farm quite fast with this beacause of its 5 sec disable on single creep allowing you and your creep to do the job. Also, if a hero is left with one creep on his side, the casks will bounce only on those two units, at lvl 4 its a 4 sec disable for a hero on a creep+hero cask attack.
  2. Voodo Restoration (V): Vol'jin focuses his voodoo magic to heal nearby allied units. Drains 10 mana/sec until deactivated. Lvl 4 restore up to 24hp/s Comment: Why not getting this skill before stats? When in early game, Vol'Jin has low mana pool. Activating this skill also requires mana consumption + 10 mana/sec drain on you until you deactivate it. I require bringing some Flasks Of Sapphire water or Ring Of Regeneration rather than getting this skill in the early game.
  3. Maledict (M): Targets an area with an ancient voodoo curse. Cursed heroes will not only take damage over time, but they will be dealt bonus damage every 4 seconds based on how much hp they lost since the beginning of the curse. Lasts 12 seconds. Lvl 4, Enemies lose 20 hp/sec, 40 bonus damage for every 100 hp lost during curse. Comment: This skill makes Vol'Jin deadly when executed perfectly.. And its an AoE skill. For some, this skill is hard to understand.. Its quite simple.. After you cast Maledict on a certain hero, the more he/she takes damage from attacks/spells the larger the bonus damage it will receive from Maledict.
  4. Death Ward (D) : Summons a deadly ward (really freaking deadly) to attack enemy heroes. Level 4 - 150 Chaos Damage. Bounces twice (with Scepter) SICK! chaos damage mean it will always be consistent damage (150) every hit! Ooohh.. Its simply one of the best ulti's that i've ever seen in DotA.. The wards attack the nearest hero when you cast it, but take note.. Eventhough the ward is invulnerable.. Its a channelling spell meaning, Stun/Silence/Cyclone and other disables can stop the ward. Also take a look at its description ( CHAOS DAMAGE ) meaning, the armor is disregarded.. Its a constant 120 damage + bounces at lvl 3 ( w/ scepter 150 chaos damage, bounces twice ) means disaster to low hp heroes.

random Sup'z dota guide to godlike
how to use huskar to the point that he gets god-like?
Sacred Warrior
The main thing about Huskar is that his DPS (Damage Per Second) gets higher the less HP he has. However if you have low HP, your putting your life on the line and might get focused fired on and die, BUT this does not hold Huskar back. This strategy guide will tell you how exactly to build a Huskar that can stay at low HP and gain the bonus damage + IAS (Increased Attack Speed) while still staying alive enough to own your opponents.
