Khao Lak Presentation‏

Hi all!

As we all know, this Saturday will be Orientation, however on top of it there is another event going on as well. There will be a presentation of the Khao Lak trip we had last year and we would like to invite your parents to come down. Basically what we intend to do is to present our reflections on the Khao Lak trip to inspire those who did not go, and to reignite the memories of those who went for the trip. The reflections will be done by a few of us who went to Khao Lak last year.

The details of this presentation is as follows:

Date: Saturday, 2nd February 2008

Time: 1pm to 1.30pm (immediately after Orientation)

Venue: LT2

Please do inform your parents regarding this presentation and encourage them to come for it. It is a short one, so if your parents are fetching you from Orientation they can pop in to listen to the presentation as well. However it is not compulsory

Skills Revision 28/1

hey all,

The only activity for next week other than Saturday's Orientation is Skill Revision.. No Wednesday activity this week! Do have a GOOD BREAK.
This session is for all of you to brush up on your skills before the Sec 1s come in, so please take it seriously in order to portray a good image of 01 to our new members.

The details are as follows:

Reporting time: 3.30pm
Reporting venue: Gym hall atrium
Reporting attire: PE attire
Dismissal time for SU: 5.30pm
Dismissal time for PLs and Ventures: 6.00pm
Things to bring: Scarf, Scout skills notes

well done! wednesday the 23th of jan, OWL '08 finally achieved FULL ATTENDANCE!
Hopefully, this enthusiastic attitude will continue forever!

Reminder

• Boon king please don't forget to take pictures during activities in the future, and remember to take pictures of our own patrol members! Do not be random.
• If any of you are unable to go for any activity, please inform me 1 day before hand and it must be a valid reason.
• Bryan please assigns Patrol Logs already!!!
• Joel will collect patrol fund when the secondary 1 join in.
• No activity on staff training day, next wednesday

The secondary 1 pupils will most likely join us during the 2nd of FEB on saturday's Orientation

All the secondary 2 must be friendly towards the sec1s as you are the 'link' from them to we secondary 3 and please do not put them into an uncomfortable situation in anyway. If there are any sec 1 who seem to be bore, you should take initiative and chit-chat with him to make him feel more relax. More information will be post later.

Pioneering Activity 23/1

Hi guys,

I must agree with Yue Zheng that last week had been a very hectic week, however, you guys had came all of them! IMPRESSIVE!

Tmr will be the Pioneering Activity.
Details are as followed:

Time: 3.30pm to 6.30pm
Reporting venue: Raffles Square
Reporting attire: FULL Scout Uniform ( in conjunction with MusterParade)
Things to bring: Water bottle

This activity serves to revise your pioneering skills and to teach you some new techniques, so we hope that you will be able to learn much from this session.

*Remember to bring the signed parent's form tmr, or there will be severe consequences
*Do not abuse the 01rafflesyahoogroup, it is only for official correspondence that is relevant to the majority of the group members, a very good example of NOT-TO-SEND messages are from Chinna

muster parade

today, you guys were generally okay. but i think there is still a lot of room for improvement. for the sec 2s, here are some tips for the muster parade that is going to be held on wednesday.
1. concentrate on everything
2. listen out for the command
3. practice commands on your own, if you're not sure, ask!
4. don't think too much. just relax and be confident! (example: i kept on reminding myself to do the 'turning on the spot while marching' command properly and when ben hong shouted the command, i screwed up.)

hope you sec 2s will take it seriously. if we screw up and mr chan pumps us, j1s are gonna pump us even more! so, give it your best!

some words of advice

eh guys,
for this saturday act i hope to see all of you (espically sec twos) like be more enthu and also, don't be too shy and volunteer if the j1s or anyone for that matter needs a volunteer or someone to help with something. yeah, and if you think you are not up to the task or what ever you have been tasked to do, just try your best and no one will blame you. hope you guys will take my advice seriously! :) don't forget to punctual for this saturday's act!
