With Jobweek just round the corner, the j1s have planned a Jobweek Special Activity for all of you!

The details are as follows:

Duration: 3.30pm to 6.00pm

Reporting venue: Gym hall atrium

Reporting attire: PE attire

The purpose of this activity is to prepare you for Jobweek, so we hope to see all of you, all in the spirit of Jobweek. oYEAH!

Finally, please procure the items that you need before the camp, preferably at Army Market (near Lavender MRT Station, ask your SUTC PL) or the Scout Shop for missing uniform parts. Remember, everything you forget/do not bring will serve to add to your count.

2 major briefings on week 9

tmr activity will be SUTC (Scout Unit Training Camp) briefing. it is a physically and mentally challenging camp, so all, espectially sec 1, please be present tmr for the briefing, or you will lose out.

The details are as follows:

This briefing is extremely important as the camp is merely 2 weeks away.

And on next wednesday, 27th of Feb, the activity will be JOBWEEK briefing.

Job Week is an annual fund-raising event held by The Scout Association. During Job Week, scouts from all over Singapore fan out throughout the island and knock on doors of residences and offices to seek jobs from the public in return for a cash donation. The money earned goes towards funding the scout group’s activities and HQ events. It is a very important and long-established affair of the Scout Movement.

More details will be revealed during Job Week briefing, which will be held this Wednesday, 27th February. Please take note of the details below (do not mix this up with SUTC briefing, which is on Monday, 25th Feb):

Date & Day: 27th Feb Wednesday
Duration: 3:30pm to 6:30pm
Reporting Venue: Gym Hall Atrium
Reporting Attire: Full Scout Uniform (for muster parade)
Things to bring: PE attire, street directories, writing materials.

There will be muster parade next week, so please bring your scout uniform. All except the sec1s.
Sec 1 please report at the gymhall after your PSGM.

Joel will be collecting patrol funds on monday so please bring $3 each. these funds will be paid for all the patrol items, such as patrol soccor ball.

Reflection on OVERNIGHT 22/2-23/2

hi guys,

i believe that throughout the camp, all of you had learnt a lot, bonded well with one another and definitely became a true scout for the sec 1! for the post holder, Joel and Jason, i expecting a lot from you, so please prove to me that you are worth to be in your post. CONGRATS TO ALL SEC 1 AND POST HOLDERs.

Joel and I were very impress with Benedict and Randy because both of you followed instruction and complete orders willingly. your attitude helped the sec 2 and 3 very much during cooking race, which we were short with plates and bowls. both of you showed respect towards you senior too, so please keep it up! for roy and kaiyao, please learn from them! hope all of you will nvr forget and will always uphold the scout promise!

all of you had definitely showed more maturity compared to last year. keep it up! nothing much to say but all of you need to be more active in helping PL and APL, u guys are the second in command!

overall, we did quite well as a patrol. but just remember that during any game activities, please be alert and listen to your seniors as we have more experience.

Reflections on Patrol Fun 18/2

Hi owl,

today patrol fun did not go on smoothly as expected, much annoyance to all of us. i must say that you guys seems to lack in these simple areas: patience, discipline, responsibility and respect. these are the basic values in scouts that you must uphold, without these values, i dare say that you will have difficulties in many areas throughout the year.
Boon King and Lionel did not turn up, even though Joel called and smsed both of you the night before. and yet both of you did not notify us the reason before the first patrol fun of the year started. this is call irresponsible. both of you are seniors now, please respect yourself before you want your juniors to respect you.
the sec1s, todays you guys are still quite shy, but Roy was definitely not. Please respect your PL and APL when they are addressing about something important.

i was quite sad to say that both Joel and I were not satisfy with both of your behaviour during today unofficial activity. Do you think that the J1 will not know what you did? i tell you that you better think again.

Job Week

hello guys.
F.S. requires all sec2s and 3s of all patrols to submit their proposed route for job week. It should be as detailed as possible. For example, if you're going to toa payoh, don't just say toa payoh. You should at least say the blocks of HDB flats which you will be going on that day in that area. Please send either sup or I your job week routes by monday (18/1). For sec 1s, you may be feeling sad that you're not included in this but don't worry as you will be told more about job week during job week briefing and you will only be required to send in your proposed travel route only after the briefing itself. Basically we will be revising on all the skills that you are not sure of before next week major event in the 01 calender, Overnight. then we will do something fun as a patrol, maybe soccer or other stuff that you think it is fun. please give suggestions on what u guys want to do for fun in the tagbox then joel and I may consider them. if not then v will stick to soccer.

1. plan your routes for jobweek for 2 days

3. think of the more meals that we are able to cook during overnight

* remember, THE ROUTE HAS TO BE AS SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE. do not just say toa payoh, as it is a big area. say like which blocks or private landings they are planning to go. they should also include the transport they are taking to go from one place to another.

The rationale for this is such that you are familiarized with where you want to go during Jobweek itself and not stone at the gym hall atrium on the day itself pondering where to go next. it is also for the J1 to roughly know where you guys will be. failing to do so will affect our standing in the inter-patrol competition as u noe that Jobweek is one of the major event in the 01 calender.

it has been quite long since the last act (i already miss it! :P) there are only patrol logs that have yet to be allocated. 1. skills revision - sup (more than 1.5k words - since there's a lot to cock about) 2. orientation - lionel (2k words) in case you've forgotten, here are the past allocations for patrol logs.

for the sec ones, the sec 3s will be bringing you'all to buy your uniform on tuesday, the 12th of Febuary. For those who have third lang (you know who you are and there should only be 2 of you), the sec 3s will be bringing you'all on friday, the 15th of Febuary. Please bring along at least SGD 100 cash (sorry but nets and visa not accepted). for the sec 2s, if you have any missing uniform parts, please alert either sup or me ASAP so that we can help you buy on those days. And all of you please make sure that your uniform is up to standard as the j1s are more strict with it this year and you wouldn't want the j1s to add to your count. sec ones please don't worry as we will show you how to put on and make sure your uniform is at an acceptable standard. Hopefully, all of you will be able to take initiative in the future activities and do not be shy! with your enthusiasm, we will not fall! CUTE SEC1 OWL!

IceBreaker during Orientation 2/2

hey dudes



In order to know the sec 1s better, these 3 games will be play during ice breaker within OWL 08 only.

Hope that all of you will be friendly towards the sec 1 and at the same time, do your responsibility as a good senior or maybe even better, an ideal role model! I will expect all of you to interact with them more, espectially the sec 2, please remember that you are the 'link' between the sec 1s and the sec 3s, you should know what to do.



here are the details of the 3 icebreakers:


curtain game
name shooting game
dog and bone



1)Curtain game two people sitting facing each other, with a curtain blocking them in the middle, so when the curtain is pulled down, both of them have to shout the name of each other faster than the otherBasically the objective of the game is to see whose reaction is faster and ultimately to know each other names better.



2)name shooting game every member of the patrol sitting in circle.one of us will start by saying "I SHOOT, I SHOOT, I SHOOT ", then the person who is 'shot' have to immediately 'shoot' any other people within the circlethis game will enable all patrol member to familiarize the name of other members



3)dog and bone two line of equal number of people facing each other, with a 'bone' in the middle. all will be called in alphebet assigned before the game start. then the person whose alphebet is called has to go and get the 'bone' before the opponent team. the first people to bring the 'bone' back first to their line win. the opponent can stop the person with the 'bone' by tapping him.this game will allow all members to have fun with each other after knowing each other.
